Current public repository boundary
Reddit's public organization currently lists Devvit SDK/templates/docs and infrastructure libraries such as Baseplate, but not the consumer web monolith. The previously inspected reddit-client-lib is a small historical shared browser utility library, not the current frontend. Therefore no claim about today's proprietary consumer bundle is made from those repositories.
github.com/orgs/reddit/repositories?type=public and https://github.com/reddit/reddit-client-libCorporate site is a separate marketing stack

This supports treating Reddit Inc as a corporate content site, not as a source for consumer Reddit's application DOM. Bundle analysis could not enable the debugger because script execution was prohibited; no attempt was made to circumvent that restriction.

Current official Devvit Web docs describe an app-specific standard client/server split: webview client, Node endpoints under /api/, and devvit.json configuration, with @devvit/server capabilities for Redis and Reddit API. These docs are evidence for current developer-platform extension architecture only; they do not establish how reddit.com's consumer frontend is implemented.
developers.reddit.com/docs/capabilities/devvit-web/devvit_web_overviewVote and tree semantics
Archive vote model stores a user's prior vote and removes its old contribution before adding the new one; directions are up/down/unvote serialized as 1/-1/0. An initial self-vote is recognized. Comment tree code groups comments by link, maintains parent/child relations, and computes separate controversy, confidence, score, and Q&A order data. Rebuild voting will be idempotent and support switching/unvoting without double counting; replies will remain attached after client sorting.

Official current Devvit docs identify t1_ comments, t2_ users, t3_ posts, t4_ messages, and t5_ subreddits; a comment parentId is t3_ for a top-level comment or t1_ for a nested reply. Archive JSON docs define {kind, data} wrappers and Listing.data with children plus nullable before/after cursors. Votable data has ups, downs, likes true/false/null; created data has UTC epoch seconds. Search options documented today: relevance/hot/top/new/comments sorts; hour/day/week/month/year/all timeframe; after/before cursors and bounded limits.

Archive _sorts.pyx: score = ups-downs. Hot = sign(score)*log10(max(abs(score),1)) + (createdEpochSeconds-1134028003)/45000, rounded to 7 decimals. Confidence/best is a lower Wilson bound using z=1.281551565545 (80% in that historical implementation). Controversy is (ups+downs)**(min(ups,downs)/max(ups,downs)) when both counts are positive, otherwise zero. New sorts by descending creation date; top by descending net score; top/controversial accept hour/day/week/month/year/all filters.

Reddit Inc's public homepage defines communities organized around interests, posts containing stories/links/images/videos, comments for discussion, and upvotes/downvotes that make interesting content rise. Rebuild scope therefore includes community feeds, sorting/time filters, post creation, voting, threaded comments/replies, search, joining, and saving.
redditinc.comHistorical architecture and scope
reddit-archive/reddit is a historical, read-only snapshot (archived 2017), not proof of today's production stack. Its public architecture wiki describes a monolithic Pylons/Python web application, PostgreSQL ThingDB plus relational data, Cassandra, Memcached, RabbitMQ background jobs, and optional ZooKeeper. The rebuild will borrow the observable domain behavior, not deploy obsolete infrastructure or claim to reproduce today's private stack.

Unauthenticated https://www.reddit.com/, /r/webdev/, and /r/popular/hot.json?limit=3&raw_json=1 all returned Reddit's 'Prove your humanity' / 'blocked by network security' page. No login, CAPTCHA, or other bypass was attempted. REA observed a 96-node challenge document, no application network requests, and no local/session/IndexedDB/Cache storage keys. Therefore production DOM, bundles, and live response bodies could not be verified here.
